Turffontein Continues – Striker Opts Out

Veteran not taking any chances

Racing continued at Turffontein on Saturday after a track inspection prior to the first race.

After winning the opener on the 5-10 favourite Green Sapphire for Sean Tarry, veteran jockey Piere Strydom stood himself down and got off his remaining three rides.

“Cantering down and walking the track are two different things. It’s very wet,” added Strydom, who said that his colleagues were welcome to continue.
