The 2024 CommunityFest, the first racemeeting of the 2024/2025 Cape Racing Summer Festival of Racing will be hosted at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday and is headlined by the R500 000 Gr2 Cape Punters Cup.

Traditionally a Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas trial and won by some top horses down the years, the 2024 Cape Punters Cup has attracted a quality field, that sadly lacks somewhat in quantity with the smallest field In recent memory.

Only six 3yo’s accepted at close on Monday morning, and this will no doubt be puzzling and frustrating for the local racing management who have made tangible efforts to boost field sizes since taking over. The ten-race card has attracted 112 runners, with the two features ironically mustering just 13 acceptors between them.

Aiming for his sixth Cape Guineas success next month, Vaughan Marshall looks to hold a strong hand with his coupling of One Stripe (112), who is SA’s joint fifth highest rated 3yo male,  and fellow One Word son All Out For Six. Both try the mile for the first time.
