Mike’s King Will Not Run In Summer Cup

A change of plans

Dave The King has been withdrawn from the Betway Summer Cup on Saturday, 30 November, but will run in another race on the day.

Mike de Kock said on Wednesday morning: “Dave The King will be running in a Pinnacle Plate over 1400m on Summer Cup day which is part of the build-up for his main target, the 2025 King’s Plate on Saturday, 4 January. He is doing very well at home.”

De Kock said that the decision was taken in consultation with Dave The King’s owners, Larry Nestadt, Gary Player and Ralphs Racing. The Turffontein 2000 is just too testing for him, and the owners are fully in agreement on running him in the Pinnacle Plate.”
