KZN Breeders Race On Saturday

The first race is off at 12h35

The KZN Breeders host their annual race day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday and the festive get-together will set the scene ahead of the Hollywoodbets Durban July at the same venue a week later.

Nine races are carded, with the main event of the day, the R600 000 non black-type KZN Breeders Mile, the only race run on the turf.

Sean Tarry has traditionally been a big player on this day for some years, and he travels down from the Highveld with the top-class Mrs Geriatrix, who ran a decent race when second over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time.

The Clifton Stud-bred daughter of Vercingetorix won her only attempt on this course and is the classy best-weighted runner in the line-up.

Don’t forget about the free to play Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge,  with the first due off at 12h35.

Hollywoodbets-sponsored Trainer Corne Spies sends out Wyzeact in Race 6.

He has good recent form lines to his credit. He set the pace over 1400m at the Vaal last time but was outrun late. He won his only attempt on this course, four runs ago.

The son of Act Of War is the best weighted runner in this contest and he should take a power of beating.

Russian Doll from the Michael Roberts stable takes her place in Race 4.

She produced a promising latest run over 1000m on this course, against male company. The way she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging.

The daughter of Pathfork is unbeaten from two starts over this course and distance. She will be at peak fitness for this outing and may be the one to side with.

Gareth Wright will not be riding on the day.

  • The Bipot starts in the second race at 13h10
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the third race at 13h45
  • The Pick 6 starts in the fourth race at 14h20
  • The first Jackpot starts in the fifth race at 14h55
  • The second Jackpot starts in the sixth race at 15h30
