Ridgemont Highlands’ internationally proven five time Group 1 winner Canford Cliffs has maintained his superb momentum in his second SA season!
The top-notch stallion registered another stakes success at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday when his Clifton Stud-bred son Cliff Hanger maintained his impeccable record to win the R200 000 Gr3 Godolphin Barb Stakes.
Trained by Summerveld conditioner Yogas Govender, who achieves minor miracles with his small string, Cliff Hanger built on his track and trip debut to score a scintillating victory under Billy Jacobson.
With the favourite Outlaw King outpaced and never quite finding his best stride, the race turned into a three-way tussle with Cliff Hanger (14-1) showing courage as he got the better of Glen Kotzen’s multiple stakes-placed feature winning filly Golden Tatjana (4-1) by a head in a time of 63,66 secs.
Outlaw King (7-10) will come on with this effort and was 0,40 lengths away in third.
A R90 000 National 2yo Sale graduate, the winner was bred by Clifton Stud from the VAR mare Luneberg.
He has now won 2 from 2 for stakes of R175 000.
