Yeni Gets 7 Days For Interference

Has right of appeal against finding and penalty

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 14 November 2023, Jockey Muzi Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

A suspension of 7 days has been imposed on Muzi Yeni (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

The particulars being that as the rider of STRIKING ANGEL, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MAMAQUERA (P Mxoli) when he shifted out, in the concluding stages of Race 8 at Turffontein Racecourse on 2 November 2023.

Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after having considered the evidence presented, found that Jockey Yeni was a contributing source to the substantial interference in the incident.

Consequently, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days was imposed.
