WSB Cape Town Met Day Is Here!

A reminder that race 1 is off at 12h00

The Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met has arrived and an exciting twelve-race programme takes place at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth this afternoon.

There is a R1 million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R10 million. Don’t forget about the free to play Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge and if you finish in the top 50 on the leader board, you can win your share of R50 000. The first is due off at 12h00.

Captains Ransom – don’t doubt her reliability (Pic- Chase Liebenberg)

Captain’s Ransom from the Justin Snaith stable takes her place in the Gr1 Schweppes Majorca Stakes and she is the possible Pick 6 banker.

She raced from a handy position in the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time, rallied late but found one too good in the form of Make It Snappy.

The daughter of Captain Al is unbeaten from three starts over this course and distance and has won this race for the past two years. She always gives of her best and should take a power of beating.

Trainer Andre Nel saddles Gentleman Joe in Race 5. He produced a good comeback run when second over 1800m on this course last time. He was slow into stride, but the way he finished off his race was encouraging.

It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Gimmethegreenlight won on this day last year. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

This year’s Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met sees 19 runners go to post. Jet Dark ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. The way he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging.

He was an impressive winner in the Grade 3 Cape Mile in his penultimate effort. The son of Trippi finished second in this race last year and from his good draw of four, he can go one better.
