Worcester Player’s Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge Joy

Don't miss out on Saturday!

A remarkable twist of coincidence on a Hollywoodbets roadshow saw Wednesday’s Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge leaderboard topper GranvilleShawn meet Shaheen Shaw and Rouvaun Smit during a visit to SA’s leading sportsbook operator’s Worcester branch, just hours before he banked the must-be-won prize ahead of 9368 participants.

The Shaw and Smit roadshow has proven a popular feature for customers of the market leading purple brand countrywide, and when the duo turned up in the rustic Capital of the Breede River Valley accompanied by the Sporting Post shortly after the opening race of the Hollywoodbets Greyville Wednesday racemeeting, they were greeted by cheers from the local players.

Lifelong player Danny, enjoys meeting Shaheen and Rouvaun at Worcester

The 84 year old Danny, a pensioner and punter for 55 years, is an avid follower of the A Shaw Thing podcast, a thrice weekly podcast covering local racing.

“He’s probably my only fan – but it’s invigorating and refreshing to mingle with the real punter on the ground,” added Shaheen.

“It’s a wonderful honour and privilege to meet these two gentlemen in the flesh,” added Danny as Hollywoodbets branded caps, bags and other gifts were handed out to an enthusiastic reception.

The Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge is a free-to -enter competition that requires players to select a runner in each of the races on KZN racemeetings.

A progressive bonus jackpot prize of R1 575 000 was on offer on Wednesday, with the daily must-be-won prize of R10 000 payable in proportion to the top 20 finishers on the leaderboard.

Dany showed off his position at 1 on the log after the fourth race

GranvilleShawn123 finished top of the log on 115.72 points with 5 of the 8 winners selected. He beat Premilla6 (115.29 points) by the proverbial short head.

When Shaheen Shaw and Rouvaun Smit bade farewell to GranvilleShawn 123 after the fourth race, they wished him well – although he still had a long road to travel in a field of 9369 enthusiastic players!

“When I checked the results last evening I couldn’t believe how GranvilleShawn 123 had managed to hold on to victory! It’s a fantastic horseracing challenge and I don’t miss a meeting. Nothing in life is free – here you have a free ticket to a potential lifechanger. And monitoring the log positions throughout the day is all part of the needle and fun!” added Shaheen.

There is racing at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday evening – first off at 16h35.

And then Saturday’s dual Gr1 Hollywoodbets Greyville feature meeting is the next opportunity to win big.

The first of ten races is due off at 11h10.

The progressive Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge jackpot prize is R1,6 million for Friday evening, with the R10 000 must-be-won stake up for grabs.
