Women’s Day Celebrated At Turffontein Today

The first race at Turffontein is off at 12h50

Racing on National Women’s Day takes place at Turffontein Racecourse today and eight races are carded.

The first is due off at 12h50 and the lucky last is set for 16h40.

Guest of honour for today’s racemeeting – jockey Rachel Venniker (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Mike and Adam Azzie saddle Far Away Winter in Race 3. He was ultra-impressive when winning at the second time of asking.

That was his first start as a gelding. The son of What A Winter should love the extra 160m on offer. He does take on stronger, but looks to have class about him and should be up to the task at hand.

Baby Dont Hurt Me from the Paul Peter yard takes her place in Race 4. She was not disgraced in her last start over this course and distance.

She raced from just off the pace, moved up well and was outrun late.

The daughter of Twice Over has dropped to a competitive rating and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

Please note that jockey JP van der Merwe will not be riding today.
