Mistico Today: Winterbach Stud Well Represented

Always a quality product

The Winterbach Stud, who foaled and raised this season’s high-class three-year-olds Invincabelle and Cape Derby runner-up Rascallion, will be offering a very smart draft at the BSA Cape Yearling Sale that starts at 12h30 today at Mistico, near Paarl.

The Winterbach consignment includes yearlings sired by such notable stallions as Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, What A Winter and William Longsword.

Winterbach’s Lot 17

The latter, one of the very best sons of multiple champion sire Captain Al and responsible for an impressive first crop winner in the form of Safe Return, is the sire of Let It Snow (Lot 17), a well related filly whose dam is bred on similar lines to champion Winter Solstice, with Let It Snow’s granddam, Baltic Beauty, a Gr3 placed own sister to champion, and four time Gr1 winner, Mother Russia. William Longsword is also represented in this draft by a filly (Lot 133) out of a dual winning half-sister to exported stakes winner Woodland City (who was sired by William Longsword’s grandsire Al Mufti).

Master Of My Fate, the sire of such notable performers as Tempting Fate, Sentbydestiny and Twist Of Fate, is the sire of a filly (Lot 99) whose dam is a three time winning daughter of top sire Dynasty, while multiple Gr1 winner Wylie Hall’s sole representative is Certainly (Lot 94), a filly out of a mare who won seven and who hails from the same family as former South African champion Tropicante.

The consistently successful Oratorio, whose local runners include multiple Gr1 winner Van Halen, has two colts on offer. Stanley Park (Lot 115) is a colt, out of a winning daughter of Var, whose third dam is Cape Fillies Guineas winner Sport’s Chestnut, while Music Is Life (Lot 138) is a three-parts brother to both G1 Premiers Champion Stakes runner up Ancestry and to the very smart filly Bequest -a winner of three of her first four starts.

Multiple champion sprinter, and hugely successful sire, What A Winter, is another proven sire doubly represented in the Winterbach draft. Winter Legend (Lot 18) is out of a three-parts sister to Cape Guineas winner and champion sire Captain Al, while Miss Mapimpi (Lot 73) is a filly whose dual winning dam is a Fort Wood half-sister to Victress Stakes runner up Jabulani Jive.
