Winchester Mansion Scratched

First due off @ 12h00

Winchester Mansion was withdrawn due to an abnormal blood count at 08h49 today from the Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes as we look forward to the second raceday of 4Racing’s The Championships Season.

An an exciting ten-race programme is carded for Turffontein Racecourse this afternoon with the first due off at 12h00.

There is an attractive R1 million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R5 million.

Three Gr1 events feature on today’s programme, including the Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic, TAB SA Classic and the Wilgerbosdrift HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes.

Trainer Mike de Kock saddles Gimme A Nother in the Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Classic.

She is unbeaten from five starts to date and was super impressive when winning the Wilgerbosdrift Gr 2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas last time.

The way she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the extra furlong on offer.

She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field once again and this may give her the edge to nab another win.

Humdinger from the Mike de Kock stable represents decent each way value in Race 5. She is better than her last two starts and her effort when fourth over 1400m on this course, three runs ago, catches the eye.

She has won once, finished second once and third twice from nine starts over this distance.

It is encouraging that Piere Strydom steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
