Cape Racemeeting Abandoned

The people who setup the race meeting for the 2024 must know that July has the most rain fall. Every year we had racing at Hollywoodbets Durbanville race course starting from July to September but this year it seems not to be. Only now they want to change to Durbanville after five race meeting has been abandon so who will take responsibility for poor programming. Owners pay hefty keep for their horses in training with no income to show. In total 15 juvenile races has been abandon witch will never make up for the losses so can someone explain what happened to the one hundred thousand bonus of juvenile races where is that money go

Another Champion Bloodline Sneaks Off To Stud

Well done Schalkie, on getting a stakes winning son of Trippi. Dynamite comes in small packages, Northern Dancer being a prime example.
Karoo breeders will have access to a growing number of decent stallions. Gold Standard, underrated Lance, now Wild Coast, things are looking

Saturday Abandoned – Cape Racing Amend Fixtures

That's why I admire the English jockeys, the national hunt riders. Those guys ride in pouring rain and snow, over jumps!! And the American jocks, watch the Kentucky Derby at the beginning of May, rain and sleet.
Maybe we should get those guys to come ride here during winter! I can't wait to welcome Keagan De Melo back at the end of the month, he'll ride these guys to

See It Again – Surely Ready For A Change Of Luck

Fact is the highest rated horse in the country has only managed to add a Grade 2 to his CV this (nearly concluded) season, leaving many of his followers sceptical and wary.
Let's hope that SIA at least strikes (!) the front at some stage in the running of the Champions Cup.

De Melo Returns For Snaith In Season Climax

The term 'black type' has its origins in sales catalogue pedigrees and is awarded to the first three finishers in Gr.1, Gr.2 and Gr.3 as well as Listed stakes races, with Gr.1 obviously being the elite level (Durban July/Met/Summer Cup, etc).
A stakes winner's name will appear in bold capital letters, while those who placed either second or third, appear in lower bold letters.
Non-black type races are small feature races, but as the name suggests, carry no black type.
Obviously, the more black type on a pedigree page, the

A really super talented horsemen who competed in jumping, eventing, flat racing, hurling and point-to-pointing with so much skill and talent. His will to win was unbelievable. I saw some memorable jump races between Greg and Chris Snaith. What I will never forget was the aura of peace and tranqiulity I always saw in him. Rest in Peace

See It Again – Surely Ready For A Change Of Luck

See It Again looked incredible on the day - from the photo provided. But his ultimate undoing is his racing style.

A front running horse will dictate the race most of the time. Millard in the 80's was exceptional at that. Gai Waterhouse in Australia follows that too.

Good examples of previous winners (from the front): Occult; London News; Devon Air; Jamaican Rumba. And this year it was Oriental Charm. They stayed out of trouble and dictated.

Horses coming from off the pace - unless racing 2-3 wide, invariably encounter tiring horses coming back at them, get boxed in by shrewd jockeys, don't get the split until its race over. And I see there is no longer a false rail - that makes things even worse.

Strydom is a brilliant rider, Roberts had this horse right: its just unfortunate See It Again is not front running / right up there from the get go. Having said that, top weight leading the July is a mammoth ask in itself. So a big ask regardless. And the bookmakers knew

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
