SA Racing Has Lost A Ray Of Sunshine

Wow that is shocking news. I hardly ever missed his quick summary of a meeting which I appreciated because it was always only about 8 minutes on average, but to the point. I can't believe that we won't hear his familiar greeting and then his signing off " Lets hit em hard Sunshine", again. Life is incredible, never a dull moment.
Condolences to his

SA Racing Has Lost A Ray Of Sunshine

Shaheen Shaw was the last of the great pundits- a larger than life character , a true punters' presenter. He was never an "establishment lackey", like presenters today but he always looked out for the punter and he felt our pain when the unbeatable odds-on banker ran a dirty 4th!

Shaheen was the first of the guys to "talk up" the pool, he encouraged the guys to jump into the exotics, to have a bet and to #HitThemHardSunshines! And if a particularly poor performance put the punter away he was scathing in his criticism. He did not hold back, and in the end as a punter you took the punch because you knew Shaheen had your back, and we were in it together. He was a maverick in the Tellytrack studio and when he was on duty, racing was going to be fun that day. He revolutionized presenting in South Africa and if only today's presenters could take a leaf out of his book, racing would thrive again, the punters would return and the pools would sky-rocket!

We are certainly going to miss this legend and racing is poorer for his loss. The Sunshine 🌞 is

A wonderful and insightful tribute, thank you SP. He was one of a kind. The many memorable moments will remain. Shaheen was inspiring and uplifting with his uncanny sense of humour, his side-splitting imitations of everyone from politicians to racing personalities and race callers and his descriptive way of putting his deepest emotions into words. Very recently he expressed his grave disappointment in the violence, hatred and war in this world and expressed a wish that he would one day re-incarnate in an ideal, peaceful world to a life of beauty and peace with Rasheeda, his 'Miami Blonde' by his side. 'She is sweet, like a Mango," he wrote in a text message. Love you matey, give 'em

A true legend has has passed us by

Abrasive...YES
Knowledgeable...DEFINITELY
Loved...PUNTERS DARLING
Truthful...THE ROTTERS HATED HIM
Integrity...ROT IN RACING HURT HIM
Copied...A MANY DID TRY
Charitable...ASK GRASSY PARK
Presenting racing...THE BEST

He listened to many of my stories of racing and some of it"s history.
He was part of a team that prized me twice for my stories.

When he left JHB in 2016, the vacuum he caused was the result that many a tear was shed... ALSO... the bad elements of S.A.RACING couldn't be happier, sighed a sigh of relief as he called a spade a spade and NOT A SHOVEL OR SCOOP..!!!

A heavenly R.I.P to you my friend, thanks for being YOU. and my heartfelt, honest, loving AND TRUTHFUL condolences to his BELOVED ONES...🙏🙏🙏

Shaheen as a presenter increased betting pools by his loyal followers whenever he urged them on. What a joy he was on weekday nights presenting on UK meetings. He spoke the language punters idolised by connecting with the punter. His famous words when a roughie won. There will always be those

Today’s Turffontein Winners

Fridays racing weather permitting will take place at Fairview, I was dissapointed to notice that P. E based riders namely E Webber 6 rides, X. Ndlovu 4 rides S. Khathi 2 rides and none of them has a ride on the big race. The poor jockeys wake up at 4am to go do work rides for various stables, walking, driving at ungodly hours to prepare horses for their counterparts who just get on the horses back and get the cheque and the glory. 2 weeks back on the card changes report it was stated X Ndlovu, (3 weeks whereabouts unknown (not that I condone such behavior) but who would be pleased to work His but off to prepare a mount for a Jockey from either Gauteng or Kzn?? S. Khathi medoicaly disposed, I would do the same knowing thatb40%of horses running are prepared by Me but preference is given to other jockeys. I salute the likes of Bret Crawford and Mr Klaasen who reward loyalty by giving preference to Kabelo to ride top horses and the results are showing. Maybe it's time the Government subsidized Us to get involved in racing and uplift the black jockeys this is not

‘Gqeberha July’ Switch To Poly – A Good Call?

Best decision was taken with more rain forecast for Sunday track would not even be ready a week later. Nothing wrong with this polytrack far less injuries on this surface than on the turf. 170ml rain is a lot of water
Justin still have other runners on the day. I agree it is a pity that he took them out of the main race but that was his decision he knows what he is
