A whole lotta them will be hitting the highway to KZN soon mr. Ed, while Beach Bomb, Gimme a Nother and Isivungu are hitting Route 66 in the USA.
To think the Stones recorded this in 1964 and they are still doing concerts...

Joao seeing you have an open line to Vee Moodley and I don't; Here is my suggestion for the jockey sanction. It should be HARSH (I know you don't necessarily agree) but also FULLY SUSPENDED for a very long

Jockey Protest – Without Owners There Is No Industry

Dankie Cecil

I agree our love for the equine and the sport will be the glue that hold us together. Also that yesterday's meeting at Turfontein was awesome and heartwarming.

As for Fred (he has been a bit quite of late). Last I heard he was going to report me to the NHA, Cape Racing, my trainer(s) etc. so I guess he is pretty tied up in meetings? So I'm not sure whether he'll be happy to partake in the "binnekring" (circle of fiendship).

Be that as it may I'm already much more chilled so onwards and upwards.

PS The trainers know that I'm somewhat unorthodox and also that I'm small fry in the bigger scheme of things. They know I'm very passionate about horses and a regular visitor to the stable and gallops (where I pick up most of my gossip). Their response will be; "Tell me something I don't know lol". I actually shared my letter with them before I knew whether Sporting Post will publish

Haaibo Chris 🤷‍♂️
It's mutual benefit 🤷‍♂️🤔
Love to see the owners ride, get sponsors, manage the infrastructure, racing staff and bet on their own races 🤣🤣🤣
It's a set of gears, they need each other

All Good Cecil I agree that our common love for the equine and the sport is the glue that will hold us together. Yesterday's meeting was awesome!

As an ex-bookmaker, I firmly believe bookies should NOT lay open bets ! Tote pools at the moment are ridiculously small. I have no doubt that huge amounts of monies are going to these bookmakers instead of swelling the tote pools. I'd never take a R5000 bipot perm knowing the pool was going to be R90000 net.At the same time I believe that the absence of bookmakers on-course ( I certainly don't count the handful of clerks representing big companies as bookmakers) detracts hugely from the atmosphere on the racecourse. There would be great camaraderie AND competition amongst bookies. Punters could always get a stretch, and there'd be hundreds of people gathered round the bookies' rings. This would add tremendously to the ambiance and entertainment on course. Cheap prawns and jumping castles just don't do

Great interview. Greg is a genuine leader. It makes every bit of sense to have you at the top purely because racing needs integrity. Thanks to you Joao for putting this interview together. Onwards we

Grant van Niekerk Issues Public Statement

I would like to suggest punters to stand with Grant and if they're some legal costs we must open a trust and deposit money to it.the judges got it wrong this time. Just like yesterday Fouries horse bumped muzis horse twice and they overruled it.it shows our panel are doing this in favour not in the spirit of the game. They forget that we can stop punting and they will suffer a lot. Just b strong Grant we're with u on

That's what you get for being a lazy commentator mr ed, I actually saved a copy of the 2025 racing calender in January!
That's William Robertson on the cover of the SP Sprint, he would be popular with punters if he contested the Senor Santa stakes on April 26.
Don't know what the Equus standings are for sprinter of the year at this stage of the season, but possibly developing into a duel between William R and Gimme a Prince?

Hi Neill
With Champions Day wrapped up, all eyes turn to the grand finale of The Championships on April 26, where the season’s top contenders will renew battle for the final day of the Highveld feature season. The industry will then come together to celebrate excellence at the Highveld Feature Awards on May 17, 2025, honouring the standout performances of the season.

Check the last page of Sprint 26/3 for SA Champions Season calendar - https://www.sportingpost.co.za/sprint-digital-weekly/26-march-2025/
Also note the horse on the cover.:)
