Shannon this horse was my early fancy when Mike Dekock didn't run him in the big race in April.

This horse is a real lurker, he's run very close to the likes of Royal Victory in his classic three year old career. He's run 3.7 lengths of See It Again in the Daily News. He's now in receipt of 6kg from SIA. The problem with this horse form has been his shocking draws. He's going to be handy and he has a decent turn of foot. He's beautifully drawn, third run after a rest and is possibly Mr Dekock's main hope.

Got watch his run in the Summer Cup, this additional 200m maybe what he's looking for. I had abit of 16 to 1 the place 2 Months ago

He has form in open company, and his run to Oriental Charm was very

Hi Cecil

Agree, good field!

Q1 Reserve runners will be scratched at 08h15 on Friday 5 July - it is a World Pool event, so we will double check this cut-off.

Q2 Interviewed Striker today after draw - he is very happy with 10 - it was his choice of gate. He is a bit worried about pace, and said he would have liked Dave The King in the field, if he had the choice. So going with See It Again for second, Cousin Casey third - and Master Redoute a lurker.

Will run a reader's quartet competition for a nice voucher

Hi Frankie

No pressure. It's a great time to be racing!

As you know, the Hollywoodbets Durban July day is the busiest raceday of the year on course in South Africa.

Just a personal opinion, without having witnessed it personally, the logistics of demonstrating TCO2 testing to a very broad spectrum of Joe Public on a major raceday don't seem practical at any level. Whatever the goal, the concept just doesn't spring to mind as entertainment, somehow.

You are

Hello Mr Editor

This is a GOOD field, can't be too many hard luck stories, but a few of us MR haters will now say Meridius and Shoemaker should have been 19 and 20 😅

Q1 - Up until when can Hluhluwe get in ?
Q2 - Besides GWE, what are your early Trifecta fancies

Frankie Zackey...Mr Ed,,,you must be so crazy busy this time of the year ? Sorry for adding a (little bit) more pressure onto your plate,, but what are the chances of us the racing public and punters getting to see them doing the TC02 testing only on the July runners live ???? Surely with so much interest from all over the world for the July they'll love to see transparency at the highest possible level... Surely it shouldn't be a problem ? I mean if you over the 36 mark you out,, its as simple as that,, surely there's shouldn't be anything to hide or worry about ? Once again apologies for adding just a (little bit) more pressure to your

For some years now I always start my July analysis by looking at the de Kock and Tarry runners.

It's easy to be an armchair observer, of course, but the more I look at this field, the more I think Dave The King, with 57.5kg (?) and assuming he settled like he did in the Gold Challenge, would have had this field stone cold.

Not sure why Silver Sanctuary was scratched - I thought she was a serious contender with 52kg on her back.

Aragosta looks exposed but is course and distance suited and has a galloping weight - can definitely reverse the form with Future Pearl over this shorter trip.

At the other end of the spectrum, I can't see how Shoemaker gets into the field ahead of Hotarubi.

Interesting conundrum for the Tarry runners: both horses have undoubted ability but one may find this a shade too far, while the other may find this just a touch too short.

I have no idea who's going to win, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Future Swing will go off as the eventual tote

‘It’s Hard Work’ – Owner Stinkie Pooe

Wow. Just on plus minus a year Aug/Sep last year this horse won his second race @ Vaal and on that day trainer Klassen said you will see this horse in the July and nobody took note. I have been a serious follower ever since and yes I have made my penny had a good doubles with Royal Victory on Summer cup day. I made him the best miler at that time unbeaten even hoped he would have taken on Charles Dickens which never happened. Just wanna say well done to the owner Mr Pooe and to Miss Klassen you kept your word . He is in the final field for the July what a
