Whipgate – Lerena & Gates Sanctioned

Firstly, the prices of the horses have actually nothing to do with what transpired and secondly Gavin was behind Jason so unless Jason had rear view mirrors to see where Gavin was and to know where Gavin was going to make his run up the wide Turffontein straight then that's also rubbish ..If I was Gavin i would be extremely happy with the punishment he has got for such a shocking act...Send the film of this race to a first world racing jurisdiction and see what punishment Gavin would have got from the moment it happened. The Nha have handled the entire incident shockingly which is par for the course for them, and they should be investigated themselves but clearly they are a law unto themselves they don't answer to anyone and listening to podcasts its clear the operators who CONTRIBUTE TO THE NHA OVERHEADS IN A MASSIVE WAY are scared to say

With regard to favouritism
History shows that certain jocks are singled out n punished more severely more often than others. Starting with GvN. On 25/3/2025 found guilty rule 62.2.7 causing interference.pleaded not guilty.fined R50000. Susp 21days. On 6/7/2025. JP pleaded guilty. Rule 62.2.7 caused clear n obvious interference costing sia at least a place in the july.Susp 16 days.no fine.no outrage from media.only well done good ride JP. Imagine if Grant or Bling was the rider. Also Mr Strydom true proffessional.after interference still rode sia to get best possible finish.no fuss no crying after race.unlike Gavin who stops trying resulting in horse finishing way back.no perseverance.he bumped me twice.
Bling was also fined on 6/7/2025 rule 58.10.2 misuse of crop fined R54500. Called a repeat offender.
Fourie also guilty on gold cup day. Rule 58.10.2 crop misuse.also called repeat offender bt fined R35000.
Gavin also found guilty of this rule 58.10.2 on 24/8/24 guilty 4x in one day fined only R1000 each again guilty 18/9/2024 fined R1000. Gold cup day guilty 30/72022 fined R10000. Not once labeled repeat offender. S veale found guilty 18/2/2025 fined R20000 suspension 7days.
The NHA should check themselves cos big discrepancies in these punishments. Try be more fair and evenhanded to get a happy house.hpe my research is

Hollywoodbets Durbanville Protest – Jockeys Issue Statement

We have been told by Mr. Bortz in no uncertain terms in the Glistian podcast that the NHA know exactly how to regulate horse racing , they have rules , they may make an odd error on occasion but are not obliged to and will NOT EVER explain their operations, sanctions or decisions , Vee knows best and they are beyond any form of reproach whatsoever.

S.P. please bin any comment made by me in future that has any hint of question in respect of this esteemed and august insituation who know exactly what is best practice for the governance of the South African horse racing industry finished and klaar

The NHA is legally obligated to report this case to the SAPS for further investigation now that it has concluded its own internal investigation. A crime of assault with the intent to do GBH has been committed. Furthermore, the deliberate reckless actions which endangered both the horse and jockey must be fully investigated by the

And again following on from the NHA and Petergate, what happens if the judge/s throws out both parties cases ? Is their a chance that both parties might be completely innocent or both as guilty as hell ?

We might possibly only know in 2 years time. For now and tomorrow, is that acceptable dear stakeholders and punters

Whipgate – Lerena & Gates Sanctioned

Gavin Lerena went to work as he always does on the fateful day, he had one intention in mind and that was to do his best, as he always does, a quick glance at his stats show how good his best is, high above the considered good 20 percent of rides to win and much much higher of "in the money rides", he rode a fancied supported runner that Gates has no right to interfere with, during the running Gavin moved up on the outside of Jason Gates, Gates then keeps him outside and carries him to the worst going, Gavin in wanting to do his best tries to move to the inside, something Jason should have also wanted to do, yet Jason refuses to budge and keeps Gavin and himself out of the better going which alone raises questions of Jason's thinking,

Jason is on a 66/1 outsider, form studiers, odds makers and handicappers understand the meaning of form and Jason Gates mount had run 9 times up to then and was beaten more than 125l collectively, Gavin's mount had run 3 times placing in all three and has since won,

When Gavin gets close to Jason, Jason deliberately and knowingly whips Gavin and Gavin's mount, anyone who thinks Jason did not know Gavin was there and that he closed his eyes and whipped wildly around hitting Gavin by mistake knows nothing about riding a horse, Gavin then having enough of this bush racing tactic reacts to Jason. Many a young jockey in many countries have had senior jockeys lashing them on the back when they transgress, i have heard dozens of... read more

My Soul Mate Rounds Off Varsfontein’s Champions Day Treble

Rachel V was carded to ride .05 kgs overweight (her 1.5 female allowance was not applicable in this race) - this is approx 3 lengths over this distance - the horse lost my less than half a length - both her backers and owners can feel unlucky.

The consolation is that the information was known before the race.

I continue to be surprised by how many people ignore the effect of weight over these extended trips - another example on the day was the MDK horse Immediate Edge whom some were touting as a superstar and July winner. A basic weight calculation would have indicated to punters that IE could never beat Wild Intent who gave him 3 kgs (6 lengths) over the 2,000 meters in their previous run.

Now those that backed the horse for the July will probably lose their money because he will now need to just about win the Daily News to get into the July and off his current rating of 94 (probably closer to 101) - it will be a virtually impossible task.

I suppose there is some hope because MDK is his
