During the Cape Summer Of Champions Season, the Garrett Bar at Kenilworth Racecourse will be open on some Friday evenings for a series of Whisky & Racing Dinners.

The unique concept is being launched this Friday 6 November  and will be based on Bunnahabhain’s range of single malts – 12-year-old, 18-year-old and 25-year-old – for which the Dish Food & Social team of chefs have created a special menu.

On Arrival

A Black Bottle-based cocktail accompanied by canapés.

Bunnahabhain 12-year-old

Lightly smoked, roasted guinea fowl, salad of radicchio, cinnamon beetroot and blueberries

Bunnahabhain 18-year-old

Rolled leg of lamb, smoky baba ganoush, caramelised black olives, grilled tenderstem broccoli

Bunnahabhain 25-year-old

Baked blue cheese cheesecake, roasted cashew base, chocolate caramel shard

Piere MeintjezVegetarian options are available (please advise of dietary preferences at time of booking).

The evening will be presented by Keeper of the Quaich and all-round great whisky guy, Pierre Meintjes – that’s him to the right in typical pose!

There will also be a short preview of the next day’s racing.

The cost is R350 per person. Booking is by email ([email protected]) or online.

Depending upon your personal tastes and preferences, you’re either eating or drinking for free – because the whisky alone would cost more than the R350!
