Stay At Home, Rather

Assumptions are dangerous

Donald  Trump, fashion fads and world events inevitably have an influence on those naming racehorses – or even greyhounds. Some may be completely innocent, with no sensitive references intended.

Like Victorian greyhound Corona Cold, who has had a name change within 24 hours of making it a hat-trick of wins on the track.

Punters.com.au reports that raced by The Dynasty Syndicate and trained by Chris Johannsen, the one-time Corona Cold extended his winning sequence to three at Sale on Sunday, expanding on his already cult-like status.

His new name? The rather apt ‘Stay At Home’.

“The owners rang me this morning to say GRV had asked them to change the name given the circumstances,” Johannsen said.

“The irony of it is they named him after me loving a cold Corona beer … you couldn’t have ever imagined it would have turned out like this.”

Shows, never assume anything.
