Seeham Jumps Goes From 90 To 100

Tropic Sun goes from a 96 to a 101

The National Horseracing Authority handicappers have published their feature merit rating adjustments after the weekend.

  • Gr3 Sycamore Sprint

TROPIC SUN has seen her merit rating climb from 96 to 101 following her success in the Gr3 Sycamore Sprint (handicap) for fillies and mares over the 1160m straight course.

It was 2nd placed RIO’S WINTER who was used as the line horse, leaving her unchanged on a mark of 104.  In opting for a lower way to rate the race than might have been the case in other circumstances, the Handicappers bore in mind that the first attempt to get this event under way culminated with a false start and accordingly opted for a more conservative approach.

The winner aside, there were no increases for any other runner in this race, however, five horses received a ratings decrease.  3rd placed WINTER SMOKE is down slightly from 109 to 108, SHEER TALENT drops from 90 to 88, SPRING BREAK is down to 92 from 93, SPIRITOFTHEGROOVE drops from 97 to 95, and lastly, ALL OF ME was trimmed from 89 to 88.

  • Listed Jacaranda Handicap

SEEHAAM has had her rating raised from 90 to 100 after she ran out an easy winner of the Listed Jacaranda Handicap for fillies and mares over 1800m on the standside track.

It was 2nd placed SPARKLING WATER who was used as the line horse, but as she was one pound or 0.5 kg under sufferance at the weights she goes up from 97 to 98.

The only other increase was for 3rd finisher FORT ANNE, who was 8 pounds or 4 kgs under sufferance at the weights and who goes up from 81 to 88 as a consequence.  Four horses were given a ratings drop.  4th placed SARAGON was trimmed from 106 to 105, HEART SWINGS drops from 102 to 94, DYNASTIC LIGHT is down from 86 to 85, and lastly SHIVERS drops from 101 to 100.
