Watson Defends Saturday Racing Coverage

As much as possible coverage of KZN

In response to Joey Soma’s suggestion that 4Racing were not providing a balanced coverage in terms of the Hollywoodbets Greyville racemeeting versus that of the Borrowdale meeting, Racing 240 Chief Stephen Watson has issued a statement.

Stephen Watson responds:

Zoning in on the five hours of coverage on all racing jurisdictions that were covered from 12h00 to 17h00 (five hours) on Saturday, 80% was dedicated to ensure racing in Kwazulu Natal had all the necessary comprehensive coverage to enable punters and viewers to make calculative decisions, prior to each race.

For all races at Hollywoodbets Greyville, we showed as much as possible of parade ring, canter past, previews, live race and post race interviews.

In some cases, to ensure continuous coverage of the KZN post race interviews, we removed the sound from our international racing coverage and carried this footage in our split screen to ensure KZN racing the best coverage possible.

Reviewing the channel recordings of the said coverage of the Gr1 Castle Tankard raceday, the operator cut away from Borrowdale immediately after the race, not showing replays or post race interviews from Zimbabwe, to ensure full coverage of the canter past, trot down, loading, race and post-race interviews of the IOS Drill Hall Stakes.

  • Ed – We appreciate Mr Watson’s response.
