Warren Kennedy – out for a month

Shortly after the off of race 7 on Friday, 2 December, KZN-based jockey Warren Kennedy suffered a nasty fall when Gavin van Zyl runner Out My Way went down just before the 300m mark.

On Monday, 5 December Warren confirmed that he was out of hospital, posting on Facebook:-

“Hi everyone … Just want to thank everyone for the well wishes and prayers… A quick update is that there are no breaks but i have blood and bruising on the brain so unfortunately ill be out of action for a while… Hope to be back in the saddle sooner rather than later. Out of hospital though so on the road to recovery. Thank you once again for the well wishes from too many to acknowledge individually.”

Chatting to the SP earlier today, Warren was quick to confirm that Out My Way was OK.

Unfortunately Warren is likely to be out of the saddle for a minimum of a month.

We wish Warren all the best for a speedy recovery.

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
