Vodacom Durban July – The First Log

Now the serious debate begins!

The first Gr1 Vodacom Durban July log was published on Wednesday 9 May.

Coral Fever at 2 – but will he run?

Gold Circle, in consultation with the Handicappers, have published the first in a series of logs, which will reflect the horses in order of preference as to the make up of the final field, at the time of publication.

The log always promotes a lot of healthy debate amongst experts.

Justin Snaith Sun Met winner Oh Susanna missed her prep in the Daisy Fillies Guineas last Friday but tops the table and her appearance in the Gr1 Woolavington is eagerly awaited.

Saturday’s impressive Gr1 winner Coral Fever is at number 2 – but his participation is still in the balance as he may not suit Greyville.

It is interesting, for example, to see Summer Cup winner Liege at number 3, while SA Oaks winner Secret Potion and Paul Peter hardknocker Fort Ember are well ahead of a promising 3yo like White River.

Liege is at 3

Mike Azzie’s Triple Crown winner Abashiri ran a cracking second in the Premier’s Champions Challenge last Saturday and finds himself at 6.

There is unsurprisingly, and until he shows some race form, no place for the long absent 2014 winner Legislate, who is reputed to be working up a storm at Summerveld.
