Lloyd fans turn out to see their hero

With the Sun Met public gallops already consigned to the scrap-heap of history, it was not surprising that most riders were under instructions to relax and take it easy. Many trainers feel that the gallops are too close to the raceday.

The favourite African Night Sky galloped from the 1400m on the turf on his own under big race jockey Grant van Niekerk.

A major attraction was the welcome appearance of Jeff Lloyd who took Made To Conquer through his paces from the mile mark. Lloyd described him as a staying sort with some scope.
