Maine Chance Farms’ multiple Gr1 winning stallion Vercingetorix reaffirmed a flying start to his stud career as the former Equus Champion sired the first two home in the Fairview opener on Friday.
A son of Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano, Vercingetorix had a pair of eye catching 2yo winners at Greyville on Sunday and was to the fore in the Fairview first, with his pair of debut winning sons, Alan Greeff’s Viking Moon and Gavin Smith’s Hooves Of Troy, fighting it out nine lengths ahead of their opposition.
The winner, the Birch Bros bred Viking Moon, proved the stronger to win well under East Cape champion, Greg Cheyne. He is out of the four-time winning Untouchable mare, Touch the Moon.
Unbeaten in four starts in South Africa, and also victorious in Dubai’s Gr1 Jebel Hatta, Vercingetorix is our Leading First Crop Sire by individual winners and by prize money.
Vercingetorix, whose yearlings made up to R1 100 000 at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, has 12 lots on offer at the 2019 National Sale.
He stands at Maine Chance.
