Vaseem Has First Jump For Laff Today

First off at 12h30

Eight races are carded on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf track this afternoon.

The first is due off at 12h30 with the lucky last set for 16h35.

A reminder again that the revamped free-to-enter Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge is now run on all local racemeetings, as well as on Singapore and Hong Kong fixtures.

Get your entry in today by 12h25 latest, please!

The new prize payouts formulae means that besides the R5 000 daily must-be-won prize, which is allocated to the top 20 finishers on the leaderboard for every challenge race meeting, the all-or-nothing 100% clean sheet jackpot prize will now be determined by the number of runners at the race meeting,  multiplied by R10 000 per unit, for all venues.

For example, there are currently 77 starters for today’s meeting.  At R10 000 per starter, the jackpot prize will be R770 000.

And as an added incentive, every player who wagers R50 or more on the Bet Slip generated by the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge entry, will automatically have their potential winning payout from the competition, doubled!

So now the jackpot is potentially R1 540 000!

Trainer Nathan Kotzen saddles Warrior Of Royalty in Race 1. He produced a promising debut effort over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

He moved up like a winner, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Cliff Hanger. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since.

The son of Pathfork found plenty of betting support which suggests that he was showing good work at home. If not too green around the turn and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

Vaseem is having his first run for trainer Paul Lafferty stable in Race 5. He is better than his last start in the Gr3 WSB Tommy Hotspur Stakes.

He has won four times, finished second once and third once from nine starts over this distance.

He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and may be hard to peg back.

Cole Dicken  will not be riding today.

Apprentice S Hlengwa rode his 40th winner and will now claim a 1,5kg allowance.
