Van Niekerk Bids For Another Big Day

The Pick 6 starts in the third at 14h30

An eight-race programme is scheduled for Kenilworth this afternoon. The feature race of the day is the Listed Southeaster Sprint over 1100m. The meeting kicks off at 13h20 while the lucky last is due off at 17h25.

Grant van Niekerk rode 4 of the 8 winners at Kenilworth on Wednesday and he has another solid book of engagements today.

He rides Starboard from the Andre Nel stable who is the best bet on the day. She produced a promising debut effort over this course and distance.

Jimmy The Rich writes that she raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. She found betting support that day, which suggests that she had been showing good work back at home.

The daughter of Twice Over would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.

Justin Snaith sends out Gimme Aces who could close off the meeting. He was his own worst enemy in the Non-Black Type Ready To Run Consolation last time.

He overraced in the early stages that day and understandably lacked a finish up the straight.

The son of Gimmethegreenlight won his only attempt over this distance. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

Sandile Mbhele is medically indisposed and will not be riding.

The new course false rail is 2m out from the 1800m mark with a 6m spur at the 600m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 13h20
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h55
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 14h30
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 15h05
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 15h40

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
