Van Der Merwe – At Vaal Today

The first is off at 12h55

Eight races are carded at the Vaal Racecourse this afternoon. The first is due off at 12h55 and the lucky last is set for 16h55.

Jockey JP van der Merwe (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Futurewolff from the Heather Adamson yard takes his place in Race 3. He showed very good improvement in his last start over this course and distance.

He showed good pace before getting caught in the closing stages. The son of Futura meets the right field this afternoon and he should be hard to peg back.

Clinton Binda sends out Who’s That Star in Race 8. He lost a length at the start over 1000m on the Classic course last time, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging.

It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will enjoy the extra distance on offer and if jumping on terms, he should go close to winning.
