Golden Belle The Banker Today

First off at 12h30

Racing is at the Vaal today, with the first race due off at 12h20.

David Thiselton has analysed the card, race by race.

His exotics are show below.

  • Race 1.

(14) WINE TASTING made a good debut and with expected improvement is the one to beat over a step down in trip which she should appreciate as she has plenty of pace. (2) ASHANTI should also enjoy this course and distance having shown pace over the much tougher Kenilworth 1000m last time and being run out of it. (15) WINTERS POWER has never been disgraced against some good horses and can pick up the pieces if the two likely front runners run out of steam. (David Thiselton 14-2-15)

  •  Race 2.

(10) MARENGO showed pace on debut before hanging inward due to his inexperience and he looks to have the talent to win this if he has learnt from the experience. (9) CAPTAIN MORISCO has been gelded since his debut 129 days ago in which he finished a far from disgraced 6,5 length fifth in a strong Juvenile Plate. (5) PURE WISDOM is usually thereabouts. (David Thiselton 10-9-5)

  • Race 3.

(1) BLUE SPARK is the one to beat based on his ultra consistent form in an uninspiring event over a suitable trip. (2) BRAVO ONE has also been knocking on the door over this trip. (5) LOCAL KNOWLEDGE stayed on over 1200m and should enjoy this step up in trip.

  • Race 4.

(6) CHARMING LASS has run two good races over 1450m and 1600m respectively and looks the one to beat. (4) ON BROADWAY can go close if repeating her penultimate start over this trip. (12) PRINCESS ZENA has run two good races over 1450m and 1600m but Charming Lass is preferred due to her higher draw which is sometimes advantageous.

  • Race 5.

(6) EXPRESSFROMTHEUS is a long-striding sort with plenty of scope and he should start coming into his own now so a chance is taken on him being a banker over a step up in trip which should suit. (9) PRINCE EVLANOFF made a fine comeback run over this trip but now has his second run after a seven month layoff just ten days after that comeback. (2) FLASH BURN is an effective front runner and should make a bold bid.

  •  Race 6.

(4) BOLD ELLIE stayed on well over 1600m last time and should appreciate the step up in trip but she will need to be well ridden from a tough draw.  (1) CURVATION is consistent and distance suited but also has a tough draw. (3) MY ELUSIVE made a fair comeback and represents an in form yard.

  • Race 7.

(9) GOLDEN BELLE showed her true potential last time and with a repeat should win so is made a banker. (5) DOWN TO ZERO is the best weighted male in the race and has never been out of the top three in four runs over this course and distance. (4) BENJI should have benefited from his comeback run and will enjoy the step up in trip.

  •   Race 8.

(14) IN FULL BLOOM and the other females have a significant weight advantage and this looks to be her best trip. (6) MISTRESSOFMYFATE has the form to contest this but the number one draw could be a concern. (4) WE ALL CHOMIES could be in the shake up having been given just two points for his comeback victory. (David Thiselton 14-6-4)

  • Race 9.

(11) GOLDEN SPIRAL ran a fine race over course and distance last time and females have a big weight advantage under the conditions of this race. (6) SPANISH BOY has always looked to have talent and showed a glimpse of it over this course and distance last time. (7) DIFFERENT LIGHT didn’t enjoy the poly last time and can be right there if reproducing his best over an ideal trip.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
