Vaal: Hewitson & De Gouveia Not Riding Today

The Bipot starts in the second at 13h05

An exciting nine-race programme is scheduled at the Vaal this afternoon.

Jockeys Lyle Hewitson and Diego de Gouveia are not riding.

The main event on the day is Race 5, which is a Graduation Plate and sees the return of Marygold.

The first race is off at 12h35 and the meeting closes at 17h15.

Push Off from the powerful Mike de Kock stable in Race 3 is the best bet on the day. He produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course.

The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging.

It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked.

The son of No Nay Never would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

Race 4 on the card is a Merit Rated 72 Apprentice Handicap. Alec Laird saddles Irrevocable Dream and he could be the one to side with.

He finished 2.5 lengths behind Crown Guardian last time and is 6.5kgs better off at the weights today. That should be enough for the tables to be turned.

He is likely to race from just off the pace and will be staying on in the run down to the line.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
