Striker Could Smoke Them

Vaal Standside Today

Racing returns to the Vaal Standside course this afternoon and a ten-race programme is scheduled.

The first race is off at 12h10 and the lucky last is at 17h10.

Maple Sugar from the Sean Tarry stable in Race 4 is the best bet on the card and the possible Pick 6 banker.

Jimmy The Rich writes that she was beaten by the narrowest of margins in her debut effort over 1200m on the Classic course.

The daughter of Ideal World will be at home over the 1400m this afternoon. She looks to be above average and should go one better here.

Smoke from the Brett Warren stable is currently trading at around 11/2 with Hollywoodbets and looks to be the best value on the day.

He ran a good race behind subsequent winner, Category Four last time. He returns from a 12-week break, which may have done him the world of good. It is encouraging that Piere Strydom retains the ride and he should go close to winning.

Apprentice Cole Dicken has ridden his 40th winner and will now claim 1,5kg.

The false rail is set at zero on the back straight and bend with a 10m spur at the 600m mark. False rails will be zero from the 1600m outside rails to the pull-up area.

  • The Bipot starts in the second at 12h40
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the third at 13h15
  • The Pick 6 starts in the fourth at 13h50
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fifth race at 14h25
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the seventh race at 15h34
