Vaal Racing Today

First race is off at 12h10

Racing takes place at the Vaal Racecourse this afternoon and eight races are carded. The first is due off at 12h10 and the lucky last is set for 16h15.

Madame Vicki from the Alec Laird yard is the best bet on the programme.

She showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She raced from just off the pace, moved up well but was caught in the shadow of the post by Arilena. She will be ridden by JP van der Merwe.

The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and she can go one better here. Roy Magner saddles Misty Cliffs in Race 4 and she represents decent each way value.

She was not disgraced when finishing third against winners over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since.

The daughter of Canford Cliffs will enjoy the rise to 1400m and she is back in Maiden Company. With just 54.5kgs on her back, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h10
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 12h45
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h20
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 13h55
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 14h30
