Vaal – Destiny Of Souls Looks The One

First is off at 12h40

Eight races are carded on the Vaal Classic course this afternoon. The first is due off at 12h40 and the lucky last is set for 16h35.

Destiny Of Souls from the Mike de Kock stable should give punters a good start to the day. He produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course.

Smanga Khumalo – riding very well (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

He raced from a prominent position and moved up like a winner – but was caught in the shadow of the post. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and will love the extra 250m on offer.

Smanga Khumalo retains the ride and from his good draw of four, he should go one better.

Trainer Tyrone Zackey saddles Libeccio in Race 4. He showed some improvement in his first run after returning from a 24-week break. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging.

The son of Flower Alley will love the rise to the 1600m and he will strip a much fitter horse. From his good draw of three, he can shed his maiden tag.
