Phumelela Gaming has launched an urgent investigation into the reasons for Thursday’s race meeting on the Vaal sand being abandoned after only two races.
The jockeys lodged a protest after Race 2 that the going was inconsistent and unsafe. The track was inspected and the veterinary surgeons concurred with the jockeys after which the remaining races were abandoned.
The outcome of the investigation will be announced as soon as possible.
