Twelve Wins For Global View Gelding

Ascot Stud-bred galloper goes all the way

Ascot Stud’s exciting Galileo sire Global View gave his nine progeny on Saturday’s BSA November  2yo Sale some free airtime and a nice boost when his smart first-crop son Global Drummer racked up his twelfth career victory with a professional end-to-end victory in the R90 000 November Stakes at Fairview on Friday.

A supremely talented and versatile sort, the 4yo Global Drummer races in the silks of Mauritian owner Vicky Veeramootoo, and was saddled by Gavin Smith Racing stable assistant Dean Smith in the absence of his Dad Gavin at the sale in Johannesburg.

Allowed to stride freely in front in the hands of the accomplished Smanga ‘Bling’ Khumalo, Global Drummer was always in control over the all-weather 1400m, and carried too many guns when staying on well at 16-10 to beat the equally versatile and consistent Marmara Sea by 1,25 lengths in a time of 81,72 secs.

The multiple stakes winner was bred by Ascot Stud and is out of the Kilconnel mare Royal Drummer.

Global Drummer was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

He has won his 12 races and registered 2 places from 16 starts for stakes of R539 800.

Global Drummer was one of three winners on the day for the Hollywoodbets-sponsored Gavin Smith Racing Team.
