Turffontein Decision Was ‘Unanimous’

Weather forecast is good

4Racing have issued a statement following their communication of early Tuesday morning regarding the postponement of today’s Turffontein race meeting.

Here is the statement issued earlier today.

The operator states that it is important to highlight that after conducting gallops, it was unanimously agreed that the Turffontein Standside track was unsuitable for racing.

Subsequent gallops were held on the Inside track, which, although in better condition, revealed concerns around the 1000m mark and the pull-up area.

Additionally, relocating the juveniles from the straight course to the bend would significantly alter the dynamics of the meeting.

Given the clear weather forecast for today (Tuesday) and Wednesday, along with the availability of an open day on the local racing programme, it was ultimately decided, in the best interests of all involved, to postpone the meeting.

Revised race times as follows:

  • Race 1 – 12h35
  • Race 2 – 13h13
  • Race 3 – 13h48
  • Race 4 – 14h23
  • Race 5 – 14h58
  • Race 6 – 15h33
  • Race 7 – 16h10
  • Race 8 – 16h45
  • 4Racing media statement issued on Tuesday, 8 April 2025.
