Nine At Turffontein Today

First off at 12h30

There are nine races carded today on the Turffontein inside track.

The first race is due off at 12h30, with the Bipot starting in the second at 13h05.

An interesting runner is the  KZN bred Double ’O’ Eight (pictured below) , a five year mare by Eightfold Path (USA) out of Bond Girl, who runs in the seventh.

She is one of the Sporting Post Best Bets on the day.

Owner  Pastor Dan Sukhraj’S ever consistent mare who is  trained by Grant Maroun has not missed the frame in her last ten starts with a total career win tally of six.

Purchased at the Shongweni sale for just R10 000 she has now earned a total of R458 300.

Sukhraj told Gold Circle’s Devonne Govender recently: “I remember seeing her twice at sales and she was not sold. She was then offered on the Shongweni sales and I just had to have her.”

He explained his decision to move her up to the Highveld after receiving some advice and felt there were not enough races to suit her in KZN.

“Ever since making that decision she has continued to earn and will make a decent broodmare with creditable form to her name,” Sukhraj continued.

Grant Maroun has been given a lot of credit by Sukhraj and commended him for doing a fantastic job sorting out all her issues. He said the mare is still on the up and she may be aimed at the Gardenia Stakes and other features.
