Alec Laird- A Good Day At Racing?

The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h55

An eight-race programme is scheduled for the Vaal this afternoon.

The main event is Race 3 on the card which is an Allowance Plate that sees Lady Of Steel from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable take on Pack Leader for the Alec Laird yard, who is much better than his disappointing effort in the WSB Gauteng Summer Cup.

The first race is due off at 12h45.

Jimmy The Rich writes that trainer Robbie Sage sends out She’s A Cracker who looks to meet the right field to shed her maiden tag.

She ran a good race when finishing third over a mile on the Classic course last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on well at the finish.

The daughter of Where’s That Tiger should enjoy the rise in distance and should strip a much fitter horse. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination should take a power of beating.

Mazari from the Corne Spies stable is currently trading at around 16/1 with Hollywoodbets. She finished 1.6 lengths behind Pin Up last time.

She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She won her only attempt over this course and distance and has cracked a much better draw.

Deon Sampson remains in the saddle and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

Collen Storey and Piere Strydom will not be riding today as they are medically indisposed.

The inside false rail is zero on the back straight and bend with a 1,5m spur at the 800m mark. The outside false rail is 8m in from the 1600m to 400m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h45
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h20
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h55
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h30
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 15h00

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
