The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on 12 February 2014, Trainer Mr J Visser was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.7, read in conjunction with Rule 10.5.14.
This follows the fact that he was the person responsible for the horse CASTLE ROCK when an “out of competition” blood specimen taken from this gelding on 25 August 2013 at the Visser Racing Yard, Flamingo Park Racecourse, Kimberley, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Prednisolone, and that any administration which might have accounted for the presence of Prednisolone was not accurately recorded in his Veterinary Treatment Register.
Prednisolone is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.
Mr Visser pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Mr Visser guilty of the charge and imposed a penalty of a fine of R10 000,00.
Mr Visser has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed
