The generosity of two well- known racehorse owners will ensure that the family of Thabang Lebeloane, who was tragically killed in a car accident on 5 June, will have some of their financial pressures relieved.
Thabang, also affectionately known, amongst other names, as ‘Limbo’, was a member of the Lucky Houdalakis Racing Team and was on his way to James Maree for work-riding lessons, along with a few other racing personnel from the Vaal Race Course, when a shocking accident shattered many lives.
When the Houdalakis-trained Noble Star won his second run on the trot in the hands of Gavin Lerena at Scottsville last Wednesday, the gelding’s owners Bryn Ressell and Wayne Mealing generously donated their winning stake cheque to Thabang’s family.
“Thabang was a really nice young man who was trying hard to improve his skills and learn. He will be deeply missed by all the Staff at Lucky Houdalakis Racing,” said the trainer, who also expressed his gratitude and that of the recipients, to his owners.
Thabang leaves behind a wife, twin daughters and another daughter.
