Today’s Big Meeting: Winning Form-Sponsored Jockeys Comments

Hollywoodbets Durban July Day

The Winning Form-sponsored jockeys share their thoughts on their Hollywoodbets Durban July Day mounts:

Raymond Danielson

Race 5: BEAUTIFUL RANIA (5) – I have never ridden her before and don’t know much about her. It is a competitive field and I am hoping for a good run.

Race 9: MELECH (3) – I think he is my best ride on the day. He is drawn very well in barrier three. He flew late in a Grade 1 last time and I am very excited to ride him.

Race 10: ON THE HORIZON (1) – She is a very nice filly who won her last start. I have ridden her twice for two victories. She is drawn in barrier one and we are hoping for a good run.

Race 11: ELEGANT ICE (7) – Shantastic looks to be the horse to beat. If I can get her into a good position from barrier seven, I think she will be in the finish.

Jabu Jacobs

Race 3: BARATHEON (11) – He is doing very well at home and he is well in himself. He should love the distance and will run a very good race.

Race 11: WONDERFUL (8) – She is working well at home and she is also feeling well in herself. I think the 1200m will be too sharp for her.

Malesela Katjedi

Race 4: TAXHAVEN (13) – He has some very good form in feature races. If he overcomes the draw and gets into a good spot, he should go close.

Race 9: TEXAS RED (8) – He won a good race in his last start and he seems like a nice sort. His form line is working out nicely. He won a few sprint races before and if the 1200m isn’t too fast for him, he should run well.

Kabelo Matsunyane

Race 1: VISION TO ACHIEVE (12) – She has a wide draw to compete with. She has been inconsistent, and I am hoping for a good run.

Race 2: WYZEACT (10) – He ran last week Saturday and hopefully this run has not come too soon. I know he can be a strong frontrunner and I am hoping he can hold on to finish in the placings.

Race 3: POMODORO’S JET (8) – He is a very nice horse and he has proven himself. I felt that he should have finished closer in his last start on the Highveld. He has a big shout with a light weight.

Race 4: ROCK FALL (2) – I don’t know much about the horse. He carries a light weight but there is a lot of class in the race and I am hopeful for a good run.

Race 5: DISTING (6) – She ran an average race behind Quid Pro Quo last time. Her earlier form was encouraging and if everything goes according to plan, I am hoping to finish in the money.

Race 7: WINCHESTER MANSION (9) – He has been doing very well at home and he has done everything right. He looks fresh and hopefully we can defend our title. I am looking forward to riding him again.

Race 8: HAPPY CHANCE (1) – She produced a fair comeback run, she was settled and finished off her race nicely. She is much fitter, the stable have galloped her and she has improved. It is an open race and if the race goes according to plan, she can be competitive.

Race 9: I AM GIANT (14) – He is one of my favourite horses and he ran a cracker last time. Despite his wide draw, I think he is a horse that can win this type of race.

Race 10: LADY HEIST (2) – I felt that she was unlucky last time when caught in the shadow of the post. I will know her better this time and at the weights, I feel that she has a good chance.

Serino Moodley

Race 1: RANI OF JHANSI (6) – This is a competitive Handicap, but I feel that she must have a decent chance of earning a cheque.

Race 2: WYLIE RYLIE (9) – No comment.

Race 3: CAPE EAGLE (3) – Things didn’t work out for him last time, but he is very consistent. He will be in the shake-up.

Race 5: SORCERESS SUPREME (14) – No comment.

Race 6: CHINABERRY (7) – No comment.

Race 7: FLAG MAN (17) – I am very happy with the way this horse is going about his business. The Hollywoodbets Durban July is never an easy race to win but I am confident that he will put in a bold effort.

Race 9: WINTER GREETING (7) – No comment.

Race 11: MORGAN LA FAY (10) – No comment.

Race 12: STORMY SEAS (9) – No comment.
