Gavin To Brandish The Willow

The Bipot starts in the first at 12h45

Racing takes place at the Vaal this afternoon and eight races are scheduled.

The first race is due off at 12h45 and the lucky last is set for 16h55.

Gavin Lerena rides Irish Willow in race 3.

The in-form Johan Janse van Vuuren stable send out Irish Willow in Race 3. The daughter of Linngari should have won her last start when taking on the males.

The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests she will be at home over today’s distance.

Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination should take a power of beating.

The Fifth Wave from the Roy Magner yard takes her place in Race 5. She finished 1 length behind May Queen in her last start.

She is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

She has finished second twice and third once from five starts over this course and distance. The daughter of Crusade will be staying on strongly at the business end.

The false rail is set for zero on the back straight, 10m on the bend with a 10m spur at the 800m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h45
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h20
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h55
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h35
