Christmas Eve At The Vaal

The first is off at 12h40

The final meeting before Christmas takes place at the Vaal and an eight-race programme is scheduled.

Race 3 is the main event on the card and it is a Graduation Plate for the girls. Marygold who was ultra-impressive in her last victory takes on the young Gee For Go who won the Grade 3 Fillies Mile.

The first race is off at 12h40.

Apprentice Gabriell Pieterse rides Captain Morisco in Race 7 today.

Jimmy The Rich writes that the best bet on the day comes in Race 7 in the form of Captain Morisco from the Ashley Fortune stable.

He has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He was running on well to finish third in the Non-Black Type WSB Sophomore 1000 last time.

He has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this distance. He gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice which should help his cause.

Dorrie Sham sends out Shivers in Race 5. She was not disgraced when finishing fifth in the Grade 2 WSB Ipi Tombe Challenge last time.

It must be noted that the form of that race has worked out well. She returns to Handicap company this afternoon and can get back to winning ways.

The inside false rail is at zero on the back straight and bend with a 1,5m spur at the 800m mark.

The outside false rail is 8m in from the 1600m to 400m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h40
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h10
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h40
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h10
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 14h50

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
