The Wright Day At Turffontein!

KZN raider lowers the flag of local stars

A KwaZulu-Natal raider opened the bumper Turffontein feature afternoon on Saturday when the Summerveld-based One Night In Paris flew up late to collar the free-striding favourite Big Burn in the R175 000 HSH Princess Charlene Gr3 Starling Stakes.

Going for her fourth straight victory on the trot, Big Burn was a popular odds-on choice and a banker in the R4 593 723 Pick 6 for many.

But after having things her own way for much of the race, she shortened her stride and hung in at the 250m marker. This opened the door for Winning Form’s newest sponsored rider Raymond Danielson to unleash the Alyson Wright-trained One Night In Paris (10-1).

The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight took off late and won going away to beat Marigold Hotel (20-1) by 1,75 lengths in a time of 86,66 secs.

Big Burn had nothing to come late and finished a further length away in third, thankfully hanging on for Place Accumulator players.

A R100 000 BSA 2020 National 2yo Sale graduate, the winner carries the silks of ‘marathon man’ Alesh Naidoo’s Fire Racing Trust.

She was bred by Varsfontein and is by SA’s champion sire of 2020/21 Gimmethegreenlight (More Than Ready) out  of Jet Master’s three-time winning daughter, Maximum Jet.

One Night In Paris has won 2 of her 3 starts with 1 place for stakes of R204 875.
