While the previously scheduled double-header is no longer on the cards for local horseracing today due to the continued rainy weather in the Cape, racing goes ahead in Gauteng.
A nine-race programme at the Vaal Racecourse will bring the Gauteng 2023/2024 season to a close this afternoon with the first due off at 12h10.
Hollywoodbets-sponsored Trainer Candice Dawson sends out Jury’s Out in Race 5. He is better than his last start in the TAB Gr3 Sea Cottage Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since.
He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this distance. He runs well for Gavin Lerena and won his only attempt on this course.
This power-duo will team up again today in the hope of finding their way into the winner’s enclosure.
Listen in to what Gavin Lerena has to say about his mounts today:
Juliet Tango from the Lorenzo Karriem stable takes her place in Race 6. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the closing stages.
She finished 0.75 lengths behind Ceuta in her penultimate run. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
She takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways.
