The Greatest Mile In Decades

'A helluva race' - Mike de Kock

Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Gr1 Gold Challenge is being heralded as the greatest mile in decades as Charles Dickens goes for gold!

Michele Wing’s Racing News team have done a preview of the big race.

Trainer / Jockey Comments:

Charles Dickens: “This is obviously his main mission for the season”, Candice Bass-Robinson.

Trip Of Fortune: “He’s really an improved horse since he’s been gelded. There’s not a huge amount between them (the coupling) at home. I hate to have to run them against one another, but there’re not too many options for Trip Of Fortune now”, Candice Bass-Robinson.

Al Muthana: “He’s in great shape. I think we know on Saturday how really good he is”, Ricky Maingard.

Cousin Casey: “We not probably expecting to win it, but it would be nice if we did”, Glen Kotzen.

Safe Passage: “Saturday is a bit of a double edged sword, because I think he’s a massive July runner and one doesn’t really want him to run that well and all over them and get a penalty, but it’s a Group 1”, Mike de Kock.

Rascallion: “It’s not ideal to bring him back in distance, but it’s all part of the preparation for the July”, Vaughan Marshall.

Do It Again: “He’s right up there where he’s as good as I’ve ever had him. We’re going to use it as a race to bring him on for the Hollywoodbets Durban July”, Justin Snaith.

Zapatillas: “His work’s been exceptional. I couldn’t be happier. Obviously the barrier gate isn’t on our side, but must be respected”, James Crawford

Royal Aussie: “It’s going to be a tough one for him, make no mistake”, Justin Snaith.

Bingwa: “He took his last run well in the Drill Hall. Obviously they went a crazy pace up front and he finished very strongly”, Gavin Lerena.
