The Champions Converge At Turffontein

First due off @ 12h00

It’s an exciting ten-race programme carded for Turffontein this afternoon, with nine feature races to look forward to and an attractive R2 million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R8 million.

We will see the running of four Grade 1 races, including the TAB Empress Club Stakes, Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint, TAB SA Derby and the World Pool Premier’s Champions Challenge.

Don’t forget to take the free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge, with the first race due off at 12h00.

Gimme A Nother from the Mike de Kock stable takes her place in the TAB Gr1 Empress Club Stakes. She is unbeaten from six starts to date.

She was super-impressive when winning the Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Classic last time.

She did hit a flat spot in the straight, but once asked the question, she quickened up well.

The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has beaten older rivals previously. She is the class horse in this contest and should keep her unbeaten record intact.

KZN Trainer Nathan Kotzen sends out Royal Victory in the World Pool Gr1 Premier’s Champions Challenge.

He ran a good race when third in his comeback run over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time.

It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since.

He won a good race in the Betway Gr1 Summer Cup in his penultimate run.

It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of three, he may be the one to side with.

  • Race: 1– #1 Vibe SA had a 202 day as he took his gelding badly and needed time off to regain condition.
Race: 9 – #5 Winchester Mansion had a 133 day break due to no suitable race available.
