Teflon Man Dethrones King Of The Gauls

SABC Sport Non-Black Type Durban Dash

Dean Kannemeyer and Craig Zackey produced the magic in the R175 000 non black-type SABC Topsport Durban Dash at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, when the Querari colt Teflon Man sprouted wings to nab King Of The Gauls in the final stride of the 1100m contest to bring the curtain down on a bumper feature menu.

With Richard Fourie looking set to move ahead of his record mark of 335 set earlier as King Of The Gauls continued to roll out front, Zackey unleashed Teflon Man (3-1) from what appeared to be a hopeless position to seal the victory on the line.

Teflon Man beat the favourite King Of The Gauls (9-4) by the proverbial nose in a time of 65,78 secs for the 1100m.

Common Grounds (25-2) was third, with Romance In Rome (25-1) and Except Temptation (17-2) sharing the spoils for fourth. The top five finished under a length off the winner.

Teflon Man was bred in partnership by Klawervlei Stud and part owner David Abery and is a son of Querari (Oasis Dream) out of the once-raced Irish-bred Dark Angel mare, Lost In Love.

A winner of 4 races with 3 places from 11 starts, Teflon Man has won R387 863 in stakes and looks unlikely to stop here. He is raced by David Abery, Mike Fullard, James Drew, Dean Kannemeyer, Ernie Rabe & Lee-Anne Drew.

The Kannemeyer yard celebrated an unexpected winner earlier on in the day when Bugalugs shed his maiden at any price under Sean Veale.
