Recordbreaker Marsha comes into the ring (Pic – Tattersalls)
M V Magnier has been busy buying up quality broodmare prospects this fall, his shopping list also including the $8-million Tepin and the $6-million Stellar Wind.
He exceeded even those lofty sums on Tuesday when going to a European public auction record 6-million gns (£6,300,000), or the approximate equivalent of R114 million, for the dual Group 1-winning sprinter Marsha (GB) (Acclamation {GB}) (lot 1848).
Magnier’s Tuesday haul included two other young, speedy mares for seven figures.
