Tarry’s Red Maple Looks The Right One

First race is off at 12h50

Racing takes place on the Vaal Classic course this afternoon and eight races are carded.

The first is due off at 12h25 with the lucky last set for 16h25.

Trainer Sean Tarry saddles Red Maple in Race 2 and she is the best bet on the programme. She was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed WSB Spook Express Stakes last time.

She finished 1.35 lengths behind Ipso Facto in her penultimate run. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and she can follow up.

Banha Bridge from the Candice Dawson yard takes his place in Race 4. He may not have seen out the 2600m in his last start on the Turffontein Inside course.

He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding takes a slight drop in class and from his good draw of three, he can notch up his seventh career victory.

Donald Geertshen is not riding today.
