Tarry Can Put Them Under His Spell Today

First is off at 11h35

Turffontein Racecourse plays host to a ten-race programme this afternoon. There are two feature races including the Grade 1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes and the Listed WSB Spook Express Stakes.

The first is due off at 11h35.

Pure Predator from the Johan Janse van Vuuren yard should give punters a good start to the day. He finished 1.1 lengths behind Fire ‘N Flames last time.

He is 2kgs better off at the weights which should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of New Predator won a good race on debut over this course and distance. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and if jumping on terms, he should be the horse to beat.

Under Your Spell from the Sean Tarry stable may be the one to side with in the Grade 1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes.

She finished second in this race last year. She was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time.

She raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. She is a filly that always gives of her best and she may be the one to beat.

Trainer Stephen Moffatt saddles Lilliana in Race 9. She received a bump leaving the starting stalls last time but stayed on to finish fourth.

She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter.

The daughter of Vercingetorix is back against her own sex today and with luck from the widest draw, she can return to winning ways.

There are no exotic carryovers today.
